Our vision
When teaching mathematics at Pen Mill Infant and Nursery Academy, we intend to provide a curriculum which caters for the needs of all individuals and sets them up with the necessary skills and knowledge for them to become successful in their future adventures. We want all pupils to enjoy mathematics and have secure and deep understanding of fundamental mathematical concepts and procedures. Mathematics is vital to everyday life, essential to science, technology and engineering, and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment. We want pupils to see the mathematics that surrounds them every day and enjoy developing vital life skills in mathematics. We aim to provide a high-quality early mathematics education with a mastery approach so that all pupils:
- develop a growth mindset and positive attitude towards mathematics
- have the foundations of early mathematics
- become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics;
- reason mathematically;
- can solve problems by applying their mathematics.
