Impact

Formative and summative assessments are completed in all areas of the curriculum to ascertain ‘Next Steps’ and provide additional ‘Challenges’.  Furthermore, ‘Spot Light’ children are closely monitored and intervention is established to accelerate learning when necessary.

Leaders will: 

  • Have higher levels of confidence in delivering all areas of the curriculum with coherence
  • Have a secure understanding of what is working well and what might need improving in their subject lead role.
  • Have secure knowledge of how well children are learning the taught content
  • Make links across subjects to enhance learning potential and to place learning in context
  • Teach consistently well, applying sound pedagogical practices in all lessons and for all children – Five a day approach
  • Plan coherent learning journeys based on subject mapping and skills progression documents.
  • Use high quality planning produced by subject lead teachers which show small progressive steps in learning to enable mastery.
  • Seek support from subject leads when they are less confident and take responsibility for CPD opportunities in these areas, receiving coaching where appropriate.
  • Produce detailed action plans, which are monitored and reviewed by subject leads, trustees and SLT.
  • Ensure progress is evident in books and marking comments

Pupils will: 

  • Talk with confidence about what they are learning or have learnt using correct terminology
  • Be enthused and interested in their learning
  • Refer to working walls, jam boards and books to aid their talk about learning
  • Demonstrate good learning behavior
  • Confidently seek help in a highly supportive classroom environment
  • Take risks in learning and learn from marvelous mistakes
  • Be able to make links between subject areas to help place learning in context
  • Access, enjoy and make progress within the curriculum regardless of their starting points or any additional needs they may have.
  • Show understanding through coherent teaching sequences
  • Demonstrate our curriculum’s emphasis on first hand experiences, language development and practical activities

Parents will: 

  • Give positive feedback about their children’s attitudes towards school 
  • Share examples of when children have been enthused by the curriculum e.g. children talking about learning at home or choosing to continue learning about a particular theme
